Gads den County Begins Construction on Roundabout Connecting
Barack Obama Boulevard and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard
Quincy, FL - In an effort to improve traffic safety and enhance the surrounding neighborhoods, Gads den County has begun construction on improvements to the intersection of Barack Obama Boulevard. and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. This project will include the construction of a new roundabout, lighting, and landscaping.
Less than one year following the re-naming of Atlanta Street to Barack Obama Boulevard, Gads den County began construction on the roundabout which is expected to mitigate traffic congestion at the intersection. Additionally, the benefits of a roundabout include:
- Traffic Safety – 76% reduction in injury crashes
- Traffic Calming – Reduce vehicle speed
- Operational Performance – Reduce overall delays (compared to signalized intersections)
- Operations and Maintenance – Reduce costs
The project, which is expected to last approximately six weeks, will be closed to all traffic. Citizens who use the intersection will have access to multiple detours to ensure the steady flow of traffic until construction is complete.
