GADSDEN COUNTY COMMISSIONER VIEGBESIE APPOINTED TO STATE AND NATIONAL LEADERSHIP POSITIONS

GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla- - National Association of Counties (NACo) President Larry Johnson recently announced the appointment of Gadsden County Commissioner Anthony “Dr. V” Viegbesie (District 2) to one-year terms as both a subcommittee chair of NACo’s Agriculture and Rural Affairs Steering Committee and vice-chair of the International Economic Development Task Force.

“Dwight D. Eisenhower once said that, ‘We the people, elect leaders not to rule but to serve,’ and the bible reminds us in Luke 22:26, ‘But not with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest and the leader as one who serves.' Let’s go to work. #CountiesMatter. Glory be to God,” said Commissioner Viegbesie.

Viegbesie will aid in the responsibility for all matters that pertain to USDA agriculture, rural renewable energy development, research and extension, food safety, and conservation programs while serving on the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Steering Committee.

His service on the International Economic Development Task Force will include facilitating the exchange of information ideas and resources and guidance for NACo programming concerning county-level engagement in international economic development activities.

Viegbesie also received a Florida Association of Counties Presidential appointment to the Board of Directors as an At-Large Member. He also serves as a committee member on the Immigration Reform Task Force, the Rural Action Caucus (RAC) Steering Committee, and Resilient Counties Advisory Board.

“It is always an honor to be given an opportunity to represent Gadsden County at the state and national level,” said Commissioner Viegbesie.

The National Association of Counties strengthens America’s counties, including nearly 40,000 county elected officials and 3.6 million county employees. Founded in 1935, NACo unites county officials to advocate for county government priorities in federal policymaking; promote exemplary county policies and practices; nurture leadership skills and expand knowledge networks; optimize county and taxpayer resources and cost savings, and enrich the public’s understanding of county government.
