GRAND OPENING OF NEW GREENSHADE/DOGTOWN FIRE STATION

GADSDEN COUNTY TO CELEBRATE GRAND OPENING OF NEW GREENSHADE/DOGTOWN FIRE STATION

GADSDEN COUNTY, FL - -Gadsden County Board of County Commission Chairman Anthony Viegbesie, District 2, members of the Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners and Interim County Administrator Henry Grant, Ph.D., will join Chief of Emergency Services Keith Maddox, Gadsden County Fire Coordinator Andre Walker, Gadsden County volunteer firefighters, business leaders and members of the community to officially open Gadsden County’s newest fire station Thursday, November 12, at 1 p.m.

The volunteer fire station located at 7297 Salem Road will serve the Greenshade and Dogtown communities in northeastern Gadsden County. The new station will provide fire and rescue services.

“One of the Gadsden County Board of Commissioners’ roles and responsibilities is to improve the quality of life for the citizens of the county,” Chairman Viegbesie said. “These two combined communities have been a dead zone with no immediate fire station for far too long. I am grateful to the Board of County Commissioners for its support of public safety, and the process of getting a fire station for this community.”

Fire Coordinator Walker worked with the Greenshade/Dogtown communities in 2016 to obtain their articles of corporations, elect officers, and design a training schedule for volunteer firefighters.

“The station opening has been highly anticipated within the department, and we’re all happy to see these assets go into service up here,” said Coordinator Walker. The station will begin responding to emergency calls immediately following the grand opening ceremony.

The Greenshade/Dogtown Volunteer Fire Station and other volunteer fire stations around Gadsden County are still looking for volunteers willing to serve and protect their communities. Applications are available at the Gadsden County Office located at 9-B Jefferson Street, Quincy, or by calling 850 875 8650 to request an application.
