GADSDEN COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSION CHAIR ANTHONY O. VIEGBESIE, PH.D. SELECTED AS A 2020 PRESIDENTIAL ADVOCATE

GADSDEN COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSION CHAIR ANTHONY O. VIEGBESIE, PH.D. SELECTED AS A 2020 PRESIDENTIAL ADVOCATE

GADSDEN COUNTY, FL.- -The Florida Association of Counties (FAC) presented Gadsden County Commissioner and current board chairman Anthony O. Viegbesie, Ph.D. with the 2020 Presidential Advocacy Award for accomplishments as an advocate for Gadsden County.

This special recognition is awarded to county commissioners who have shown exceptional leadership in serving with the FAC during the 2020 session to advance the counties’ legislative agenda.

“It’s an honor and privilege to receive this award from my colleagues from the Florida Association of Counties,” Commissioner Viegbesie said. “I love Gadsden County, and advocating on its behalf has become second nature. I am pleased with all that we accomplished thus far this year and look forward to advocating the causes that serve the citizens of our County.”

As an advocate for Gadsden County, Commissioner Viegbesie worked to secure funding for new roads and bridges and the construction of the new Greenshade-Dogtown Fire Station.

“One of the Gadsden County Board of Commissioners’ roles and responsibilities is to improve the quality of life for the citizens of the county by, among other services, providing fire safety and disaster response services. These two combined communities have been a dead zone with no immediate fire service station for far too long. I am grateful to the Board of County Commissioners for its support of public safety, and this process of getting a fire station for this community started. In addition to safety, a fire station in this area is expected to lower the fire insurance rates for people living in the Greenshade-Dogtown Communities.

Commissioner Viegbesie proudly wears the limited-edition lapel pin awarded to him by the FAC as a recipient of the 2020 Presidential advocacy Award.
