Tourist Development Council

tourismBackground: Pursuant to Section 125.0104, Florida Statutes, known as the Local Option Tourist Act, the TDC can make recommendations to the BOCC for uses of the tourist development tax revenue and for the effective operation of special projects, meet and adopt a tourist development plan in accordance to provisions of Section 125.0104 (4) (c), Florida Statutes and continuously review expenditures of revenues from the Tourist Development Trust Fund and receive, at least quarterly, expenditure reports from the BOCC or its designee.

Member Terms: The Council shall consist of nine members, each of whom shall be electors in Gadsden County, Florida, and shall be appointed by the Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners. The terms of appointment of each member shall be staggered terms of four years. If determined by a majority vote of the BOCC, members of the Council can be reappointed for additional terms.

Meetings: Scheduled for the third Monday of every month, held at least quarterly, but on an as-needed basis.

Current Members: Gadsden County Commissioner Brenda Holt, Quincy City Commissioner Keith Dowdell, Jeff Dubree, Peter Patel, Carolyn Ford, Havana Councilmember Cathy Johnson, Linda Dixon and John Garcia.
