Kindergarten through third grade official Guidelines and Rules

The Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners and the Gadsden County School Board are excited to announce the launch of the inaugural Black History Month Art and Essay Contest, themed "Remembering the Past, Celebrating the Future." This contest invites students to explore the vital contributions of African American laborers to the growth and development of Gadsden County, highlighting their lasting impact on the community.
Students in grades K-12 are encouraged to participate in this meaningful opportunity to reflect on the historical and contemporary significance of African American labor in shaping the county's future. The contest features two categories: an art contest for students in grades K-3 and an essay contest for students in grades 4-12.
Prizes include:
$500 grand prize for the top winning essay.
$100 gift cards awarded to the five top entries in the K-3 Art Contest.
Submission Deadline:
• All entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025.
• Submissions can be emailed to blackhistoryessay@gadsdencountyfl.gov or mailed to the Gadsden County Public Information Office, 9-B East Jefferson Street, Quincy, FL 32351.
