Alonzetta currently serves as an Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Resource Teacher at Carter Parramore Academy. She has been a teacher in the Gadsden County school system for the past 15 years and was elected as the 2021 Carter Parramore Academy Teacher of the Year. She is an experienced administrator specializing in needs assessment, planning, implementation, and budget management.
Alonzetta has a wealth of experience that ranges from youth & education to healthcare. She has an established history of public service through non-profit organizations such as the YWCA of Greater Miami-Dade, Christ Crusaders, Inc., and Radiant Life Changers, an organization she founded to assist Gadsden County citizens in need.
Alonzetta is married to Steven Simpkins. They are the proud parents of Steven, Stephon, Lonzetta, and Alexis Simpkins. She is the daughter of Rev. Vivian Mitchell-Grant and the granddaughter of Ella "Mutta" Jackson.
Alonzetta is a proud and faithful member of Saint Hebron African Methodist Episcopal Church. Alonzetta’s educational journey includes James A. Shanks, Barry University, as well as Jones International University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Professional Administration and her Master of Education.
