GADSDEN COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO CELEBRATE PUBLIC WORKS WEEK
May 18-25, 2025
GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla - -The Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) is encouraging local residents and businesses to join in recognizing National Public Works Week, which will be observed May 18–25, 2025.
This year’s theme, “People, Purpose, Presence,” underscores the dedication and commitment of public works professionals who serve their communities each day. The theme emphasizes the human impact of public works, the sense of purpose it provides, and the continual presence of its professionals—often unnoticed, yet essential.
“Public Works Week is a time to recognize the people behind the scenes, working year-round to ensure Gadsden County remains a great place to live, work and play,” said BOCC Chairman Eric Hinson. “Many times, public works professionals never meet the individuals whose lives they’ve impacted. That’s because, when things are running smoothly, their work often goes unnoticed. Still, whether recognized or not, they remain ever-present—working in the background to improve quality of life for all.”
The Gadsden County Public Works Department is responsible for managing daily maintenance of county roads and stormwater infrastructure, overseeing capital projects, and providing policy guidance and citizen support. The department maintains more than 700 miles of roads in unincorporated Gadsden County.
To honor its staff, the BOCC will present a proclamation recognizing Public Works Week during its regular meeting at 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
“I am so proud of my team and all they do for Gadsden County,” said Public Works Director Curtis Young. “One week is not enough to thank them for their contributions. They are the backbone of our community.”
The department will also host several public appreciation events:
- A Public Appreciation Luncheon at noon Tuesday, May 20, at 1284 High Bridge Road, Quincy and
- A Community Celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 23, at Quincy Park on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
