GADSDEN COUNTY EMS TO CELEBRATE EMS WEEK 2025, HONORING FRONTLINE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES PROFESSIONALS–MAY 18-24
This Year’s Theme, “We Care. For Everyone,” Recognizes the Lifesaving Commitment of EMS Providers Across the Nation
GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla - -The Gadsden County Board of County Commissioners is encouraging local businesses and residents to join in recognizing EMS Week, May 18–24, 2025, honoring the dedicated professionals in emergency medical services.
Now in its 51st year, EMS Week celebrates the vital role EMS personnel play in protecting the health, safety, and well-being of the community. This year’s national theme, “We Care. For Everyone.”, highlights the unwavering commitment of EMS professionals to serve all individuals with compassion and excellence.
National EMS Week is a time to honor and thank the brave men and women who deliver life-saving care, often in the most critical moments,” said BOCC Chairman Eric Hinson. “Their commitment to our community is unmatched, and we are proud to recognize their vital role in public safety and emergency response.”
Established in 1974, National EMS Week celebrates the essential contributions of emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and other prehospital care professionals who are often the first point of contact in medical emergencies.
“National EMS Week is a celebration of our EMS profession and the incredible, essential service paramedics and EMTs provide in their communities every day,” said Christopher Way, president of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT). “The communities we all serve are profoundly grateful for your care, your extensive training, and your selfless commitment to enter any situation in order to care for your patients.”
Gadsden County Emergency Services (GCES), a county department established in October 1984, provides a full spectrum of care, including emergency medical services, fire and rescue, non-emergency ambulance transportation, and standby medical support for community events such as football games, music festivals, and races.
Each year, GCES responds to approximately 10,000 calls for service, resulting in about 7,800 patient transports. Their fleet includes six Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances, as well as one ALS Quick Response Vehicle (QRV). These units are equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology, including LifePak 15 cardiac monitors, Lucas 3 CPR devices, Vyaire LTV 1200 ventilators, Sapphire infusion pumps, and Butterfly iQ ultrasound systems.
Gadsden County EMS combines cutting-edge tools with evidence-based medical practices to deliver the highest standard of care to residents and visitors.
