Gadsden County Celebrates Completion of final housing rehabilitation project the funded by the Community Development Grant (CDBG) and State Housing Initiative Partnership*SHIP) Housing Programs

Gadsden County, Florida — Gadsden County is proud to announce the completion of the fifth and final housing project funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. Through this program, the County was awarded $750,000 to support demolition/replacement and major housing rehabilitation projects throughout the unincorporated areas of the county.

These projects represent the County’s continued commitment to improving housing conditions and expanding safe, quality housing opportunities for residents. In addition to the two homes already completed, at least three additional projects are nearing completion and are expected to be finalized within the next month.

To commemorate this milestone, the County will host a ceremonial key presentation for homeowner, Ms. Lorene Brown, on Friday, August 14th, at approximately 1:00 p.m. The event will take place at 7386 Sycamore Road, Quincy, Florida.

Commissioner Shawn Woods, District 3, will present the ceremonial key to Ms. Brown in recognition of the successful completion of her new home.

County officials, community members, and partners are invited to attend as we celebrate the progress of the CDBG housing program and the positive impact these projects have on residents and neighborhoods throughout Gadsden County.

“Programs like the Community Development Block Grant allow us to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of our residents,” said Sonya Burns, SHIP Administrator for Gadsden County. “These homes represent far more than construction projects—they are the foundation for stability, dignity, and renewed opportunity for families in our community. Each home stands as a testament to what can be achieved when we come together to serve others. It is both an honor and a privilege to help make safe, affordable housing a reality for the citizens of Gadsden County. My heartfelt prayer is that these homes will always be filled with warmth, light, peace, and above all, love.”
