Public Works

The Deparment of Public Works is responsible for the administration of policy and objectives, responding to citizen needs, providing department guidance and direction reviewing policy matters, preparing and monitoring capital projects and ensuring consistent day to day maintenance of county roads and storm water infrastructure. The demand for service is extremely high due to the nature of routine maintenance, road building and weather related problems. Due to the diverse external environmental factors that affect roads and drainage, Public Works constantly must adapt to current weather conditions. The various divisions of Public Works respond to inquiries/complaints on right of way issues that are received. The governing laws for Public Works include Florida Statutes 336.025 County Transportation System, the Uniform Traffic Control Manual, and various local Gadsden County oridnances.
